WELCOME I have been involved in education for over 30 years as a teacher, school administrator and, more recently, a faculty advisor at UBC Okanagan. I am also currently a parent of a school-aged child, and I have one grandchild in the school system as well. As such, I would bring a balanced approach to the Board of Education.   The main role and responsibility of a School Trustee is to ensure a quality education for every child in the public education system. A major factor in realizing this task is to take into consideration the views of all stakeholders, namely, parents, students, teachers, administration, and levels of government. If I was asked to side with any of these stakeholders, I'd have no hesitation in saying that students come first. It is all about our most valuable resource: our children.   So, what is a quality education? It's where all students can feel successful, particularly our students who have special needs. It's where students enjoy a well-rounded education that focuses on literacy and numeracy as well as the Fine Arts, Languages, Applied Skills, the Sciences and the Humanities.   I believe that School District No. 23 is striving to deliver a quality education to our students. I would be very excited to be a part of that process. Areas of Focus o Listening to the concerns of all stakeholders o Lobbying the government for better funding o Studying and improving how we allocate funds in our own district WELCOME Welcome  |  About Richard  |  Experience  |  Contact / Donate Copyright 2011 Richard James Knight.
